Refinishing wood floors is a great way to enhance the beauty of your home. Start by planning to make the job easier and to avoid disruption. Nothing is more annoying than bad planning. Make sure you have everything ready before you start so you won’t have to take a trip down to your favorite hardware store every 2 hours.
When refinishing wood floors, the first thing you have to do is remove all the furniture on the floor. The floor where you will be working should be emptied as well. When using the sanding machine, make sure you move quickly. Leaving the sander too long at a certain spot will cause serious damage to your floor. Use low settings when you start sanding. This will help protect the floor. Use the highest setting to complete the process of sanding. This helps make the floor flat and smooth. As you sand, you should see the return of grain in the wood.
The drum sander is recommended by many sanders. However, although it is very effective and can do the job quickly, it can also damage the floor if not used properly. Always tilt the sander back before putting it on the floor. You can practice on old wood pieces first. Once you get the hang of it, you can start from the center of the room.
