If you're looking for a good homemade recipe for a grout cleaner that won't disappoint you and will get rid of even some of the toughest grout stains, then this is a good recipe for you to consider using. When I was reading a blog written by another tile cleaning expert, I came across this recipe and I thought it was so great that I thought I would write more articles explaining it. I believe I have linked him on my site.
- Water
- Vinegar
- Baking Soda
- Cleaning Solution
- Brush
Ingredients:
He stated that the simplest and easiest way to clean grout is to mix water and vinegar at a one-to-one ratio. Then, you want to add enough baking soda to get it to go fizzy. Typically this would mean about half a cup of baking soda to 1 quart of cleaning solution. Then, you want to use a brush to dip into the solution and scrub with. If you are going to be doing some top scrubbing, try and get more of the baking soda on your brush. After scrubbing it all on once, allow it to sit for a few minutes. Then, scrub it all off again and rinse it and dry it. The nice part about this solution is that it not only cleans grout quickly and easily, but it all is also organic, and it is fairly cheap to make. You might even have the ingredients that you need to make it already sitting around your house. It is definitely worth trying out if you have never tried it out before.
By themselves, vinegar and baking soda alone do not make for a very good tile and grout cleaner. But when you mix them both together, you will have much better results with tile grout cleaning and your tile will look a lot cleaner when you are done.
