Unique Bathroom Countertops and Vanities

Because of quality concerns, you’re going to find some of the same materials used over and over in bathrooms. This is just because they’re durable, and they can meet all the plumbing needs as well as withstand all of heat and steam that is in a bathroom. These are going to include things like porcelain toilets and copper pipe fittings. However, there are less expensive ways to bring in other materials as far as you’re decor goes.

I recently noticed a huge trend in wood countertops in bathrooms. This is really in keeping with the farmhouse kind of style. At first I really wasn’t sure how durable it would actually be. Wood seems to be like the exact opposite of the material that you would want to use in a room with a lot of water and steam. However, as long as it’s treated correctly, it still does add a little bit of a warm feeling to your room.

As far as the country kind of wood goes you want to stay away from more modern wood tones. Teak is going to be a more contemporary material that I’ve also seen used as a countertop that is quite expensive. Instead, you can go for more of the butcherblock look, but again, you have to be quite careful with how you handle this. I really love this on top of a painted vanity.

Lately, we’ve been seeing a lot of bathrooms that don’t have any wood tones in them at all including the vanity. This looks a little bit harsh and cold. However when you do use this in a new direction such as on a countertop it still gives you that warmth of a woodtone, but makes it fresh and new. Personally, I like the wood counter against white paint on the vanity. This will match a lot of different bathroom tiles. It’s great for smaller spaces, because you won’t visually break up the lines of the room with lots of contrasting colors. Plus, wood countertops can be a DIY project although it will be one of the more advanced ones.
